About the Kayfabe forum
« on: March 21, 2003, 06:30:53 AM »

Kayfabe: To maintain kayfabe is to uphold the pretence that professional wrestling is not scripted or staged. The word began its phonological career as a carnie expression, used to alert co-workers that a member of the uninformed public was within earshot, and thus all discussion of behind-the-scenes elements should be dropped promptly. Adopted by the pro wrestling industry, kayfabe was athletes' way of protecting the business, staying in character whenever appropriate, and to this day it is a term used to describe anything which is pure storytelling rather than an honest "shoot."

To participate in this Kayfabe forum is to step into the mindset of a fan who sees the world of pro wrestling as it is presented to them. In this forum, Kane and The Undertaker are half-brothers, and a blazing Sting was sent off the top of the steel Nitrovision structure by Vampiro. If you've ever read the official WWE Magazine, you'll know that intelligent discussions can still be had from the perspective of a "mark," without drawing upon or making reference to knowledge gained in one's capacity as a "smart" fan. Relive the days before you knew wrestling was worked. Once you hit the groove, you might find it's fun!
