If anyone wants to have a turn at "being" Big Brother, just let me know. I said to The Hitman that I wanted to keep the identities secret, but on second thoughts I don't think that's necessary. As long as the housemates don't know who's behind the "voice," then it doesn't matter if people on the outside do.
The Hitman's next in line, by the way. I'll keep a record of who played the role and when, so that evicted housemates can reflect afterwards.
Just a few notes about what I've been doing so far:
Housemates have been deprived of several board features such as Fast Reply and formatting code (bold, links, images, etc). These can be offered up as rewards for future tasks.
I've tried to emulate the style and tone of the real Big Brother - or, at least, the version I'm used to in Britain (I don't know if others are the same). When you're taking over the role, please try and remain consistent with this. The housemates shouldn't be able to immediately spot when a new Big Brother has taken over (although I expect it won't be too hard to figure out).
Some tips:
In the main house section, begin all posts with "This is Big Brother." And only post in here to call someone into the Diary Room. Never post in the main house section to answer questions or comment on what's going on. Wait for housemates to come to you in person, in the Diary Room.
Use the Diary Room to give detailed explanations of tasks. Always be formal. The initial description should be thorough, with any subsequent questions answered as succinctly as possible. Never say more when you can say less; don't elaborate if you don't have to - the Big Brother mystique is vital.
When housemates come to the Diary Room for a chat, take the opportunity to ask general questions such as how they're enjoying their time in the house, how they're getting on with the other housemates, etc. If asking questions doesn't seem appropriate, simply thank them.
Address housemates by name, even though it is a one-to-one interaction. But avoid nicknames - say "Illusion," not "Illy." "The Billion Dollar Princess" can be shortened to "Princess," but not "BDP."
Only refer to Big Brother in the third person, and always say "Big Brother," not "he," "it," etc.
The most important fact to remember: Big Brother is never wrong! Don't be afraid to be condescending to the housemates. It's practically a part of the gimmick.
If you have any more questions about how to "be" Big Brother, post them in this thread.
