The Basham Brothers
« on: May 30, 2003, 10:49:50 AM »

This week on SmackDown! a new tag team debuted:  The Basham Brothers.  They looked great and worked great, and why shouldn't they have?  After all, these two men are former OVW Champions.

Doug Basham competed using the moniker "The Machine" in OVW and was part of the faction known as The Revolution.  Incidentally, current RAW Diva Victoria was also a part of that same faction when she competed under the name Queen Victoria in OVW (after Victoria was called up to RAW, TE2 Champion Jackie Gayda took her place in The Revolution).  Danny Basham was known as "The Damaja" in OVW and was also aligned with The Revolution.  As mentioned before both The Machine and Damaja held the OVW Championship.

I just thought I'd shed some light on SmackDown!'s newest tag team for those of you who are not familiar with OVW.  I for one am very happy to see these two on SD!, and cannot wait to see more of them in the future.  I wonder if WWE will also use this as a way to reintroduce Jackie Gayda onto SmackDown! seeing as how she is soooo close to being called up to the main roster.  Jackie would make a great manager for the Basham Brothers and I think it would do both her and the tag team some good and allow them a better chance to get over quicker.

Wasn't Damaja the guy who was scheduled to compete in the Royal Rumble, only to have his storyline reworked to make room for The Undertaker?

Yes, Headdy.  Damaja was supposed to be in the Royal Rumble match earlier this year, but due to Undertaker's return, he was scratched from the rumble.  He then returned to OVW.  It was kind of an ackward situation when he went back to OVW though, seeing as how OVW had already ran a storyline explaining Damaja's involvement in the Royal Rumble match and his leaving OVW to join the main WWE roster.

These 2 guys have always been hyped as "next big things" by the WWE when talking about OVW. I never saw them and only read about them, but from what I know they should have a great future ahead of them. Smackdown deffinately needs more talent. However, Jackie Gayda blows (and not in a good way). She should never have won TE and looks like a pitbull. Keep her off WWE tv.

But, I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know.

Well i think that the Basham Brothers have the opportunity to be a dominating force in the tag team division. With Shaniqua (sp?) in their corner, I will be expecting them to be winning the titles soon
