Curt Hennig cause of death revealed
« on: March 25, 2003, 08:53:30 PM »

According to the Tampa Coroner's office and the Tampa Medical Examiner's office, Curt Hennig died of "acute cocaine intoxication".

I don't know what to say I have been hoping that it didn't have to do with drugs but my fears came true. I always love Curt and he was one hell of a gifted athlete its a shame he had to go like this. It dose not change the way I feel I still am sadden that he is gone and I realize he's not perfect no one is but to have an athlete of his caliber go like that is just wrong. No matter how much I wish it wasn't drugs or I wish I didn't hear that is was drugs I cant shake it there's no way to describe what I feel as I am so disappointed that it came to this.I weird that he portrayed Mr. Perfect and he died in such an Imperfect way but no matter  he will always be remember at least by me as Curt "Mr. Perfect" Hennig.

Does an angel hold a sign,
with directions for everyone?
Is there someone there to have and hold for me?
If the stars refuse to shine do you change?
In my own shame, when heavens not far away

Yeah, it's a horrible way for an athlete of his level to go out. :(

I really don't want to dwell on it, because I'd prefer to remember the things I like and respect about Curt Hennig. But perhaps something good that may come out of this is that, even in death, Curt may influence a fan's life for the better. If this has taught just a handful of kids - or even just one - that drugs are not a good idea, then at least this tragic event will have made a positive impact somewhere, on someone.

I am shocked to hear that he died from substance abuse.

However, i must say that i can understand why the turned to them. Think about it, his career seemed to be winding down, he has injuries, pain, no real daily social life, he saw his family next to never, missed all the important things that happened in his kid's life. The list just goes on and on.

Now i am not justifying Curt's actions nor am i excusing them. All i am saying is that we often hold these guys on a higher platform than the rest of us, and forget that they are just humans like we are. I know alot of men that would have taken the route Curt did if even half of the above was true.

But even with all the rationalizations, i am still in a stage of shock.
