Clichés
« on: May 18, 2003, 12:04:26 PM »

TV and Hollywood are both full of clichés. Sometimes, you can just recognize the beginning point of a traditional drama sequence and instantly predict the rest from there, because you've seen it so many times before.

Britain's most popular soap opera, Eastenders, has a cliché that has worn so thin I'm amazed they can still get away with it. The idea is simple: On any special event, whether it's someone's birthday, a wedding, or something like Christmas, everybody will be celebrating in the pub/bar. But elsewhere, at exactly the same time, someone else will be experiencing the most miserable moment of their lives. Oh, the irony! Oh, the creativity! Oh, the originality! BUZZ Wrong! They use this formula over and over again, several times a year - every time there's a happy occassion, in fact. It's just so tired and predictable.

What other television/movie clichés do you hate, or love, the most?
