Well, lets take a logical approach. Obviously a chicken hatches from an egg. So therefor the egg must come first. BUT you need the chicken there first to lay the egg. How did that chicken get there though? he needed to be hatched out of an egg. Of course that egg needed to be layed by some chicken.  Could the chicken have came one day when, lets say an owl and a duck cross breeded? Then the chicken came first. well not really, it depends on if the duck layed an egg or just popped that chicken out. Maybe some sort of other bird, lets say an ostrich layed an egg and something was wrong with it, so it was much smaller and different than the rest of them. It was hatched and remained smaller. so they called it a chicken. so the egg came first.

Man, i dunno, i'll just blame it on the government. HEY! maybe there is no such thing as a chicken or an egg, maybe the government brainwashed us into believing that they exist so we will spend hours contemplating this very question. Thus, taking our minds away from the fact that they are screwing us over every chance they get. Well, i'm no government stooge....i will not be putty in their hands and contemplate this subject anymore!!

Simple. If you believe what the Bible tells you, then the chicken came first because God created all creatures as they are. And if you believe in evolution (not the wrestling faction), then the egg came first because it was genetically mutated and therefore different from its mother, which belonged to a slightly different species and therefore was not a chicken. So at ground level it's a question of religion.

Anyone who follows science and religon properly knows that natural Selection is indeed at work. And if you know how Natural Selection works, you will know that it was indeed the egg that came before the chicken.

It's pretty simple. There is no evidence that chickens have been living on earth since the begining, however there is ample evidence of creatures that were existing before them. Also, with natural Selection blinldy selecting for certain mutations with in the gene pool of these creatures it became pretty obvious that before the Chicken as we know it today came, there had to be an egg which was definitley laid the chicken's previous biological model. While there maybe minute genetic differences between the two generations of the time, it is still pretty obiovous the egg came before the chicken.

I hope that should put an end to that lame ass question once and for all.

How do we know that Chicken's laying the egg wasn't the mutation? Chicken's could have been around for many years before hand, they may have given birth though instead of laying eggs. Then over time they began to lay eggs because of natural selection. Think about that one. :)

A good listener tries to understand what the other person is saying. In the end he may disagree sharply, but because he disagrees, he wants to know exactly what it is he is disagreeing with.

There is no evidence of that. There is certain evidence proving otherwise though.
BTW, if the chickens did start to give birth by other methoda, that would auto matically make them something different and then we would still come back to the conclusion that the egg came before the chicken.

What evidence is this you speak of exactly?

If what I said was correct then Theoretically The mutated animal that came from Chicken's (the first one of tehm to lay an egg) would be considered a chicken... and this one would have been given birth to by another animal. But it's still a chicken that didn't come from an egg.

I think I'd be inclined to agree with goofball Heady.. he actually makes sense this time around...and I'm incredibly grateful he reminded us he was speaking of Evolution.. not the wrestling faction... really glad you cleared that one up...:snicker:

and I do believe it's a question of religion...
