Your Ambition vs Your Dream
« on: May 28, 2004, 10:25:12 AM »

How closely does your ambition relate to your dream?

If you're not sure of the difference, I'd define them like this. Your dream is what you wish you could do, or achieve, in a perfect world with no restrictions. Your ambition is your goal, that you realistically hope to do, or achieve, and will be able to if you work long and hard enough.

It's not uncommon for goals to change, but your dream usually remains the same. They might amount to the same thing, or they might be miles apart. How do yours compare?

My dream, as is most sci-fi geeks, is to be some kind of average person that becomes a hero/saves the day. But that's probably a bit too un-realistic.

To tell the truth, I don't really have much of any real dreams or ambition. I want to become a professional piercer, but that's only because everything else I want to do is out of my reach. Professional wrestler, tattoo artist, archaelogist, anthropologist, e.t.c. are all out of my reach and virtuall un-attainable. So I've been forced to set a goal for something lower on the ladder of things I want to do. I never know when my goal will change, either. My goal has constantly changed throughout my life because I've always been forced to find another goal after I realise my current one is un-attainable. So I want to be a piercer now, but who knows what may come a long as change that in the future. I just live day to day in every aspect of my life.

Other than anything straight out of the world of pure fantasy, my dream is pretty much just to survive this world and not get chewed up. To find my place and be able to enjoy my life to the fullest. I don't want to be an un-important loser, like I am now, for my entire life.

My dream is to be a proffesional rapper. I'm hooked on the genre of rap/hip-hop. I just wish i could do it to proffesionaly, and actually be good at it

My ambitionl has actually changed over the past few days actually. So good timing with this topic, Heady! My goal now is to be a DJ. As you know i'm getting into decks, and going on the assumption i'm going to enjoy it, i hope to make it good enough to secure a few slots a week in various night clubs. Well, thats the plan anyway. I don't hope to get that yet, i'm talking in a few years time.
