Well, I didn't see it either, but I read some pretty detailed results so I can still comment to a certain degree.
First of all, the one burning question that I want answered is: Why in the
hell have they changed Goldberg's music?! I mean, what
possessed them?! Goldberg's was one of the greatest themes in the history of pro wrestling! Look what happened when WCW changed it to "Crush 'Em" - they changed it back sharpish, because nothing compares to the original. Now, fair play, I haven't heard his new tune, but I'm absolutely gutted and appalled that WWE would even
think of doing this.
Okay, now that I've got that out of my system...
I'm glad to hear there were some "Let's go Cena" chants during the WWE Title match. I hope they persevere with John, I don't call him the Next Big Thing just because it's a popular tagline.
I don't know how well it came across on TV, but in print the whole Torrie/Test/Stacy/Steiner situation sounded interesting. I like how they've been able to use Torrie to develop a RAW storyline, despite her being on SmackDown.
I was disappointed with how the Big Show vs Rey Mysterio match turned out. I know it wouldn't do Show any favors to lose to a cruiserweight, but a fluke victory would have made for a great "giant killer" angle for Rey. I wonder if this hospital/injury/head-bump scenario is going anywhere, like Goldust's run-in with the mains electricity supply...
The one match I wish I'd seen was Rikishi vs Sean O'Haire. That one sounded entertaining. I love the resurfacing of the Piper/Snuka coconut angle, and I'm glad that O'Haire's getting what seems to be a decent push so far.
Niel, was your phone line connected to the back of your Sky Digibox? If it was, I've no idea what went wrong other than the fact that Sky are a useless bunch of morons, who seem to hate wrestling so much that they probably scheduled some maintenence during Backlash.
