I prefer realistic games, especially with games that are based on real sports or situations or jobs.
I, like Phillip, can't stand the new "cell-shading" fad. It doesn't make it look like a cartoon to me, it just makes it look too bright and a bit ugly. In Zelda's case, it makes the game look incredibly ugly. They turned Link from a semi-normal looking person, elf thing, into a kid that looks like he was born mentally retarded and he was beaten with a stick after birth. Then again, that's a compliment to the ugly "cell-shading" graphics.
The only time I really like cartoonish graphics is when I play games like Mario or Sonic or something like that. And if they games have cartoonish graphics I prefer them to be "Jak and Daxter"-like and not "cell-shaded".
Graphics can determine how you play the game, too. If the graphics are bright and cartoonish, it's easy to start thinking that's it's a happy, adventure, no matter what game it is. It the graphics are realistic and dark, then you get more serious with the game.
I prefer to be serious with the games.
