Isn't it ironic?
« on: November 25, 2003, 07:06:44 PM »

I just thought I'd point this out, though I'm sure I'm not the first person to notice this: Isn't it weird that Vince has his former rivals Paul Heyman and Eric Bishoff (who tried to run Vince out of business) running SmackDown! and RAW? It just goes to show how ironic life can be sometimes! lol

It is kinda ironic/funny isn't it? I think that would suck though, I mean, first the guys business runs yours into the ground, and now he's the guy who signs your paycheck...... owch, serious need of ass kissing...

I didn't mention this because I thought I'd already been beaten to the punch!

Yes it's ironic, and strangely fitting in a way. It makes far more sense to me to have Bischoff and Heyman fronting RAW and SmackDown than someone like Stephanie McMahon. Now Steph and Shane I could agree with just as easily. I dunno, I guess I'm just a mark for symmetry or something.

On a side note, I bet I'm not the only one who had Alanis Morissette popping into their head when seeing this topic...

I guess Vince likes to keep his enemies - or former enemies I assume - closest.   I mean the fact that these two men brought the fight to Vince just a few years ago is incentive enough for him to hire them and keep them under a WWE contract.  This way he is GUARANTEED that niether Bischoff nor Heyman will be hired by another promotion.  Because if they were, they just may bring that company up and once again create some serious competition for WWE.  McMahon is smart and he knows that Bischoff and Heyman can still pose a threat to him.  So rather than risk it, he'd prefer to keep them close to him this way he can assure himself that NO ONE else can get their hands on these two promoting geniuses.

I wonder if McMahon wishes (or will wish) that there was a third brand to which he could have assigned Vince Russo.

Well he did hire Russo last year, but Russo eventually left in favor of TNA after only about four days with WWE.  I think McMahon really wanted to keep Russo, so Russo couldn't compete with him.  And McMahon had good reason.  In just under a year, look at how far Russo has taken NWA TNA.

No you’re not the only one. The only bad thing is, nothing in that song is ironic...it’s all just coincidental.

I'm not going to comment on the unison of all these brain powers under one company like others for the simple fact that everyone and their grandmother has already voiced their opinion on the subject.  I'm not even going to go where others have gone before (on other forums) and say something like "with all these "geniuses" of wrestling in the same company, then why is the company losing money".

No no, you see, the thing that i am most interested in is the aftermath. Every wrestler that has wrestled in all three major companies have eventually commented on the one defining characteristic of WWE is the organization of the company.  In many ways, it was this one characteristic that killed both WCW and  ECW (no it isn’t the main reason, but it is one of them). However, Vince has now taken both Eric and Paul under his wings and given them incite to how he runs his company. Now if one of these two men were to leave the company and again start their own different company somehow, then they would know the WWE from the inside out.  That’s where my interests lie.

Now that Dallas, is some intriguing insight right there.  You've got me thinking about this now too.

Dallas, your point brings to my mind a (paraphrased) quote from Shawn Michaels (Vinnie Mac?), shortly after his falling out with Diesel (Bischoff/Heyman?): "I taught Diesel everything that Big Daddy Cool knows... but I didn't teach him everything that Shawn Michaels knows."
