I went to a pantomime with my grandparents and parents. It was at the Hackney Empire and written and directed by my nan-in-law's daughter (aunt in law?), she does the panto there every year. And because we're family we got special seats in a special box which was like, taped off and in the center of the theatre. Was cool. Also at the end when they do birthday shout outs and stuff, Cinderella said she's gunna call out names and they have to wave and shout so everyone can say hello back. Well first on that list was me and the people I was with. But instead of embarrassed it made me feel kinda famous when everyone looked back and saw we were in the special section. It was an awesome panto anyway. Then after we went backstage obviously and I hugged and kissed Cinderella (now in street clothes) to say Happy New Year, and met the wicked sisters (now out of drag). Was really cool.
Oh and it was quite exciting because the woman that played Chrissie Watts in Eastenders (killed Dirty Den) and was in Doctor Who episodes, she was there. I saw her at intermission and was staring like 'is it her...' then she looked at me so I quickly looked away. But just to confirm it was her, I went on her Twitter today and she'd written "another year, another winning panto at the Hackney Empire".
Then after that we went to an Indian restaurant, and I had the best takeaway curry I've had since I became vegetarian. I eat them quite frequently and its always hit and miss, but this was all hit. Was one of the best curries I've had. And they treated us really well because it was our first time there and it was New Years Eve etc. My mum and nan-in-law got roses given to them and they all had a complimentary drink after. And there was loads of food there so we brought some back and I just had the other half of my meal for lunch.
Then went back to grandparents house, watched TV for a bit, watched the London fireworks together (which were amazing). My dad thinks he could see them from the window because he could see what looked like a wheel all lit up a little in the distance, but I'm pretty sure that was just the Wembley Arch. I spoke to my uncle in America who I haven't spoken to for years, but that only lasted a couple of minutes because his dinner was getting cold. Understandable I suppose, I'm only his nephew.
Then I had a good nights sleep, woke up feeling fresh and happy and unhungover, then we drove home.
