And once, in a field believe it or not, I laid on top of her and did what I thought 'sex' was, basically on top and thrusting. Probably more rubbing than anything else. Can I just get clarification whether that counts as losing my virginity or not?

Penis inserted into vagina = losing virginity.

But what if you're gay?

  • Yeah we're both watching it. I thought he'd seen it all already and was telling me it was good and I should watch, but turns out he'd only watched like the first season. It's awesome but really weird, like I don't think there's a single normal character, except maybe for Keith. They're all fucked up.

How is Keith normal?  He's gay.

And I know this post was made in a joking manner, but I suppose it ties in with the debate of whether or not homosexual behavior is normal... if it's an evolutionary thing like most believe it to be, I'd reckon it's normal. But if it's an EVIL SINFUL LIFESTYLE CHOICE that some see it as, I suppose that changes the whole landscape.

Those aren't the only two options. David Bowie didn't choose to have different colored eyes, but that doesn't make it "normal" - it's a genetic deviation from what's still the norm, which is having both eyes the same color. Granted it puts him in a much smaller minority than being gay would, but I hope you see my point.

Not that I want to start getting into whether Bowie and/or homosexuals should be classed as mutants... That puts a whole unpleasant new spin on things, though don't be surprised if the X-Men series starts scraping that barrel in the next few years.

The whole normal or natural thing is pointless to me. It's impossible to do something that's not natural. Skyscrapers are as natural to us as intricate tunnels built by ants. I mean I get the way people use it is different and they mean it's not general or average maybe, but it's still pointless to say being gay isn't 'natural'.

I think the point I was trying to make is that natural and normal can be different things.

Yeah, I typed that reply from what Gopher said and you posted while I was doing it, and rather than digesting your post and re-writing my own post to better reflect the discussion and to keep the debate moving forward, I just thought "meh" and hit post.

Northstar, a mutant created in 1979, was the first openly gay character in the Marvel Universe. His character was always gay, but because of the comic code, they could never say it. There were just "hints" during stories. He couldn't actually come out until 1992. They aren't and won't be treating homosexuality as a mutation, but people that are gay, just like every other story writer in TV or movies etc.  Just thought I'd put that out FYI.

And I read the other day that Colossus is gay in one of their Marvel Ultimate universes or whatever.
