Yet Another Move Banned By WWE
« on: October 25, 2003, 11:27:47 PM »

Apparently, WWE has now banned whipping your opponent into the guard rail/security barrier outside the ring.  This ban was issued to protect the fans more so than the wrestlers.  This is absolutely ridiculous.  I'm sorry, but I don't agree with this at all as I don't see a need for it.

I don't understand why they banned this maneuver either.  It doesn't involve any direct serious injury unless they are worried about some fan either getting hurt or having one of the wrestlers hurt by a rabid fan.

It is ridiculous. Are they going to ban every move that holds any danger at all? Professional wrestling will always be dangerous. That's just how it is. Hell, for some, that's the appeal of it. The more moves that Vince bans, the more he makes his style of wrestling a joke and watered down. If the moves keep getting anned, WWE style wrestling will look more like dancing than fighting.

Besides, I've never heard of a fan getting injured from a wrestler going into the barricade. I have, however, heard of a fan getting hit with a mic that Vince threw. Does that mean Vince is going to ban microphones, also?

I can actually understand this one. The barriers are there to separate the fans from the action and protect them from getting hurt, providing they stay behind the wall. Now if a wrestler gets whipped into the barricade and it gets displaced, it could hit the knees of someone sitting behind it, and whether you agree with it or not, WWE could find themselves with a lawsuit slapped on their desk for that.

I would understand if I had ever heard of a fan getting hurt during a show due to a whip into the barricade, but I never have. It seems like the WWE higher-ups are getting paranoid.

I agree with Kraul, if there were cases of fans getting hurt then I could definitly see this being a good move, however as I've never heard of that, (actually I believe the fans like it because they can they sometimes can slap the wrestlers on the back) its total bs. whats next? the irish whip????

Well i think the WWE is doing one of those "better safer than sorry" deals. they want 2 prevent fans from getting hurt before it actually happens. Whats the other move that was banned? Is it the piledriver?

I heard about that the other day, and can I be the first to say GRADE A BULLF*CKENSH!T@#^%^@#%^&%#^&@%! I mean, omg, wtf they thinking? The fact that the small guy was able to get the all powerful chokeslam only further proved that he was a True SuperHero. The only thing is when he got it, people would have to lay down for the 3 otherwise it would make the move look like a joke.... But seriously, am I the only one absolutly outraged by this????? I better not be....

Yes, the piledriver is one of those moves.  Also banned by WWE are the overhead belly-to-belly suplex and the vertebreaker.

About the Hurricane being banned from using the chokeslam, I'm kind of ambivalent on this.  On one hand, he shouldn't be told not to use the move, especially since they already banned his vertebreaker.  On the other hand, the move does seem more effective when delivered by a heavyweight, and if a cruiser does the move to a heavyweight it can kind of - for lack of a better term - cheapen the move.  It's like when Brock Lesnar attempted the shooting star press.  It just didn't look right.  I'm 50/50 on this decision, but I do think they should back off The Hurricane's arsenal for a while.

Stupid Sav with his "good reasoning" can't you just be as angry as me about how it's stupid to keep banning The Hurri-Moves
