The 10 free GBA games for early adopters have been announced and will be available from Friday:

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror
Mario Kart: Super Circuit
Mario Vs. Donkey Kong
Metroid Fusion
The Legend Of Zelda: The Minish Cap
Wario Land 4
Wario Ware, Inc: Minigame Mania
Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3

It's a good line up of titles, with every single one of them having some merit to them. Nintendo are also insisting that they currently have 'no plans' to make the Game Boy Advance games available to the general public now or in the future.

Happy to see Wario Ware and Yoshi's Island, two games I've always fancied getting around to. And as they're free I'll probably give the others a bash at some point, especially Kirby, Zelda, and Wario Land 4. I can't remember what kind of game Mario vs Donkey Kong's supposed to be...

I may be able to get my hands on a couple of 3DS' for me and my little sister in about an hour for £50 each.. now what I want to know is will her R4 card she has for her regular DS be compatible?

I haven't even tried mine - Nintendo's threats of bricking the 3DS if it detects pirated software have worked in scaring me off. :um:

Yeah, I've looked into that a little and it appears that there hasn't been any reported bricking yet. And people seem to be using R4 cards as regularly as on a DS, so it just looks to be some good scaremongering on Nintendo's part.

Apparently some old R4 cards will work on the 3DS and some won't, I imagine it's only for DS games though and you'd have to get a specific 3DS R4 for 3DS games.

I haven't checked these £50 3DS' out yet anyway as the guy fell asleep, he lives next door and you can see him through his front window sprawled out on the couch  My Mum saw the black one he took into her work earlier and after a bit of investigating it turns out that it's the limited edition Zelda design one. Black, with gold design on it. I've never played Zelda in my life, but for £50 it's gonna be hard to pass it up.. so I reckon if I do get this 3DS I may have to invest in a Zelda game or two, too.

I still have my DS so I'm not going to risk putting the R4 into anything else, but maybe the bricking will only occur once someone tries pirating 3DS games.

Zelda had always passed me by as well, but what I've played of Ocarina of Time so far has been good. The special edition console looks sweet too (well, compared to the unpainted one, but the actual shape of the 3DS is still a bit ugly). I've heard very, very good things about Skyward Sword on the Wii, so that game's on my wishlist now.

So yeah, I got a white one off him as he'd already sold the Zelda one.. but I didn't get any games with it 'cos all he had left was the new Driver one and Moshi Monsters which my Mum wanted for my little sister's old DS anyway. But yeah, I have the white 3DS now :) But luckily a friend informed me that Zelda: Four Swords was available for free download on the Nintendo store, so I also now have a game to play.. although not quite the high tech 3D kind I was hoping for.

Four Swords is meant to be played as a co-op multiplayer game isn't it? Can it be played solo?

I downloaded Excitebike for free (basically the old NES game with 3D effects added). Don't know if it's still free but I didn't get on with it anyway.

  • I saw that on the Eshop but I think you had to pay for it. I'm surprised at how expensive some of the stuff is tbh. You'd think some of the original GB games would be cheaper than nearly £4.

I've been feeling a little ill or queasy these past couple of days and I'm beginning to wonder if it's anything to do with the 3DS. It started on New Years Eve, continued on New Years Day (but I just took that to be because of alcohol) and I'm feeling a bit queasy now too, although admittedly not as bad as previously.

But surely if it was the 3DS it would have affected me since the Wednesday when I bought Mario?

You've bought Zelda since though, haven't you? Different games might affect you in different ways, including the built-in stuff. You might have to adjust the slider when you change games as the sweet spot can vary between them.

Or it could just be food (or quantities of it) you've been eating, not just alcohol. I was sick after Boxing Day but hadn't been anywhere near my 3DS - it was purely down to ice cream.

Yeah I got Zelda today but I haven't played it yet.. I'd pretty much finished Mario the day before New Years Eve though and I haven't been on it since. I played it quite a lot but never noticed any queasiness throughout, only since I've stopped playing it. I'm pretty sure I was majorly dehydrated yesterday anyway, maybe it's the same for today.. I've only had one 600ml bottle of Tango all day to be fair.

Played the "Resident Evil Revelations" demo. The game looks pretty good in 3D and without. Still not a fan of the mounted over the shoulder camera, however.
