TNA Impact - Sept 2nd 2010
« on: September 04, 2010, 05:53:15 PM »

So putting four guys who are involved in the main matches of the pay-per-view into a tag match on TV just a few days before is "controversial" is it? Funny, I thought it was the standard cliched format of American pro wrestling for the past ten to fifteen years. Must be my mistake.

While I'm in a bitching mood, what was the point in wrestlers vying for the coveted four spots in Ric Flair's new group when there are now six or seven of them? And what relevance does the name Fourtune now have? Does this tie in with the changing of the hand symbol, with WWE's lawyers possibly putting pressure on any resemblance or references to the Horsemen? Or have TNA just given up on the original gimmick entirely off their own backs?

Apparently there's a pay-per-view this Sunday, and they decided to announce some matches for it. Most of which sound about as inconsequential as matches announced on the show before a PPV usually are, with the possible exceptions of Doug Williams vs Sabu if there's a title change, which I think there may be, and Nash/Sting vs Jarrett/Joe which ought to have some development of that angle.

Overall not a great show, which is a shame as I usually enjoy Impact a lot more than WWE's weekly offerings. If No Surrender bombs more than usual, I won't be surprised. Nor was I surprised by the revelation of Tara being Madison Rayne's bodyguard, which I called on here weeks ago, but at least she'll be rid of that ungainly helmet and stupid mask now. Anyone else struggling to buy Velvet Sky as a babyface? I'd still cheer her over Angelina Love any day though.

I haven't seen Impact, but I saw ReAction and...

Sky and Love are supposed to be faces? They seemed like the heels in the promos I saw. Rayne and Tara basically came off as "we're tough and we're ready" while Love and Sky spent half their time talking about how "dumpy" Tara's ass is (which is an untruth).

They're pretty terrible faces if that's what they're supposed to be. :-/

  • Well Madison's very heelish in the things she says and does, and she and Tara will usually be the ones to cheat in the match or attack from behind afterwards. Meanwhile the announcers are putting over how "great" it is to see the original Beautiful People back together. So all in all, that looks like the heel and face positioning to me.

What I'm wondering is where Lacey Von Erich's disappeared to.

That may be where they're supposed to be, but in the ReAction stuff I saw they definitely didn't come off as that.

The Beautiful People should never be face, anyway. The whole concept of the group is that it's women who believe they're at the top in physical perfection while everyone else is just lucky to be in the same building as them. That doesn't make me think of a face. :-/

I'm also very partial to Madison Rayne, so I'm going to be inclined to cheer for her side anyway so...

Velvet and Angelina are faces in the sense of SCSA when he was a face. He never really changed his way of talking or whatever, he just directed towards the heels.

Here's why the EV2.0 thing changed the direction. It was going to be only four, but they had to be Fortune. Why? Because Paul Heyman didn't sign. So instead of THey being EV2.0 They became fortune.

"They" aren't Fourtune. And "they" aren't EV2.0. Abyss himself said so ('Ric Flair is a liar!').

Maybe "they" will be revealed on 10.10.10?

With all this hype, though, it had better be something worthwhile. I'm so tired of TNA hyping every little thing like it's the biggest thing ever and it never lives up to the hype even a little.

Except the fans turned SCSA face. TNA were the ones to suddenly say TBP are faces now. And Angelina Love has suddenly become a complete bitch again, yet she's still a face...?

Considering Abyss said that "They" would be revealed on 10-10-10 in the same promo you just quoted, "they" better be revealed.

The fans have done the same for Velvet and Love. Angelina has been a face since she returned from her Visa problems many moths ago. And, fans have always been behind Velvet. She began helping Angelina and that turned her face. They are being bitchy, but are directing it towards heels. That's a face these days. Randy Orton does the same thing he always has in the WWE, just fights heels now. Same thing.

Randy Orton doesn't do the same thing. He used to be openly cocky and disrespectful, now he's just quiet.

But I'm not getting onto that subject.

Yeah, Love has been face since she came back but she didn't become a bitch again until she started teaming with Sky again.

As for the Abyss promo, I thought he just promised that "they" would be making a very important revelation not reveal their identity. I guess I remembered it wrong.

She's always seemed like a bitch to me, but I don't know if that was intentional or not...

Then quit bringing it up when you are clearly wrong!!

And I agree that Love has always acted bitchy.

i just wondering, why is kaz always like to exaggerate the fourtune ahnd sign, and if fourtune wants to kick out all the newcomers, shouldnt they kicked out hogan, bischoff and flair first?

  • Flair is their mentor and arguable the greatest wrestler of all-time, so kicking him out wouldn't make sense.

Bischoff and Hogan are just authority figures, not supposed to be a part of the roster technically. And I think it's clear now that they're not fans of Hogan either. I think they're mainly concerned with people that are supposed to be active wrestlers taking "their spots".
