RAW - 30 August 2010

    900 Raws, 1 Night
WWE.com celebrates the record-breaking 900th edition of the longest running, weekly episodic television program in history: Monday Night Raw. Join Superstars and Divas from both Raw and SmackDown for this monumental television event.

I haven't checked but if the last milestone "celebration" is anything to go by, the actual 900th edition was probably in April.

Think we'll be seeing recaps of Brian Pillman pulling a gun on Austin, and Edge and Lita's live sex celebration?

This was awful... just awful, if not for Punk and Show this wouldn't even be watchable.

  • As excited as I was about Bret Hart's return to the WWE, it's saddens me to say that the nostalgia has worn off and now it's just like - why is he there? Don't get me wrong, he is one of my all time favorites, but it seems like he's pissing on his legacy by sticking around.

This Raw sounded awful, and I only caught bits and pieces of it.

  • Bret was okay on the mic this week, but I wish they'd stop booking him in "matches" when surely even the kids have realized by now that there'll always be a bait and switch or smoke and mirrors involved, and not the Cody Rhodes kind.

The Taker/Kane stuff was alright, and as usual Punk was great, although often Big Show's comedy leaves me cold. I enjoyed some of the trips down memory lane, even though some have been overplayed. The zamboni incident stood out as a moment that just dwarfs anything today.

  • I forgot to mention the epic revival of the Bret Hart/Isaac Yankem feud from 1995. Kane must have felt a bit weird to finally be in the ring again with the Hitman for the first time in his thirteen-year gimmick. All they needed was for Jerry Lawler to take off his headset and get involved.
