iPhone

Okay has anybody else upgraded to OS4 and what kind of iPhone do you have? Have you experienced slowed down performance or anything? I really think Apple should have warned 3G and 3GS users that they could experience performance issues because I have been seriously pissed off with my phone since I upgraded it. It became slow as fuck, to the point where I wanted to throw it at the wall.. and all you get out of it is a zoom on the camera (which can be attained by downloading Gorilla Cam for free anyway) and a folder system which really is not worth the decrease in performance. Anyway I tried to downgrade once (which i dont think is strictly legal) but my old computer was fucked and couldn't finish the job properly.. But now that I have a laptop I managed to get it working properly and I've managed to downgrade back to OS 3.1.3 and I no longer feel the need to dismember my phone (if it had members that is). I seriously feel so much better, it's unbelievable.

A good listener tries to understand what the other person is saying. In the end he may disagree sharply, but because he disagrees, he wants to know exactly what it is he is disagreeing with.

  • I have not performed the download yet.  My friend has a 3G and did it and it worked very well

    Found this:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2471047&tstart=0

The things that you say are 'slow' after the upgrade appear to be faster for us, so I'm guessing that you haven't tried a 'reset' (not simply a 'power-off/power-on')?

Give it a go: press and hold sleep/wake and Home buttons together, ignoring everything until the Apple logo appears 5-10 seconds later, then release.

Good luck, and I hope that you'll end up as happy and impressed as were we.....

Well I tried that a couple of times, from what I read in google you had to do it a couple of times at least and while it does speed up your iPhone, it seemed to decrease in speed a couple of weeks later again.. so I think the OS 3.1.3 is miles better.

  • I've since jailbroken my iPhone and while yes it does void the warranty, it's so much better for customising and such.

  • From what I've read/heard, the slowness can be none existant at first but usually shows up within a couple of weeks.. Which is pretty much what mine did after I first upgraded.
