It sounds insane. So basically in America, if I had a vindictive grudge against you and knew you were short on cash, I could force you to lose money just by sending you lots of texts. If that information is true, obviously.

  • A Few years ago this is exactly how it worked, which is why I then decided to always go unlimited. Now I am not sure if it still works that way now, but I would never go back to anything but unlimited texts and data. I remember the fee was somewhere from .15 to .20 cents a text.

I almost never hear my ringtone for calls, but I'm pretty sure I have it as "Before I Forget" by Slipknot. Thought two friends of mine have custom ones ('A.D.I.D.A.S.' by Korn for an occasionally close girl friend, and something by ICP for a juggalo friend of mine).

My text ringer is just some generic one on the phone, but for a few months I had the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers communicator sound set. I probably still would if it wasn't so quiet.

On the whole charging to receive thing, I believe it if only because I used to have a Tracfone (which is one you pre-pay for) and it would charge me for 0.3 minutes for each text received (or sent). That shit adds up quick. I wound up upgrading to a real phone when I was spending $20 a week in minutes. :-/

If I wasn't concerned about looking stupid, that's something I'd probably pick. For the actual ringtone I'd use the Steel Samurai tune used on a phone in the Phoenix Wright games.

See I'm not concerned cause I often go out of my way to look ridiculous, but even so, it seems everyone that heard it really dug it (those who knew what it was).

I think a lot of people would like to have something like that but are too unsure how people might react. I say: go for it.
