Things That Slightly Irritate Me
« on: May 24, 2010, 04:40:03 AM »

  • Because anger's such a strong word.

it bugs me when videogame title screens begin with "New Game" highlighted by default, so every time after your first play you have to move the selector down to "Continue." Fable II's a culprit of this.

I get slightly irritated when I'm at a stop light, the third or fourth car in a line of stopped cars, and the light turns green and everyone takes forever to start moving. I mean, get your ass out of the way so the guy that's 5th or 6th in line doesn't get stopped at the same light twice!

Having 6 "Things That..." threads and still not being close to 3000 replies in the 3000 replies thread.

  • Off topic, but I've just noticed for the first time that when you post a thread via the WAP version of the site, the topic icon is a little mobile phone. Aww, lookit...

  • Yeah, the "Things That" thread and the spin offs have just raped NHB, and not necessarily in a bad way. It allows us to post cheaply but stay on topic, which is why the 3000 thread isn't as successful. In there, if people are having a conversation and you have nothing to contribute, you don't wanna post and derail their discussion. In here, you can just post what makes you "..." and then move on, and if a discussion does exist, it can easily continue.

  • I am cooking Swedish Meatballs tonight because I had a craving for them. There will be way to many left over... That will irritate me.

  • Know what else slightly irritates me?

Not getting my break right when I should at work, and getting it a couple of minutes late.

  • eBay.

If I have to sign in every day (which is an irritation in itself), why not put a login form on the front page? Is that too frickin' obvious?

Me too. Signing in every day when every other site will remember me and log me in automatically is annoying.

  • eBay again, but this time the fact that the winning bidder of my auction hasn't paid yet. I'm still pretty new to this, so don't know how anxious or annoyed I should be. The auction ended on Saturday, so any polite, well meaning buyer would have clicked the PayPal button by now, right? I've just sent him my second reminder, trying to be nice about it but stating that if I haven't had payment by Sunday, I'll be offering the item to the second highest bidder. That's fair, isn't it? I mean I know not everyone uses the Internet every day, but if you place a bid on eBay you should have intentions of paying up reasonably soon after the auction end date.
