Stretch Armstrong movie

Taylor Lautner has been cast in the title role of "Stretch Armstrong," Universal Pictures confirmed to Access Hollywood.

"The Twilight Saga" star will take on the role of the rubbery hero based on the Hasbro toy. The 3-D film will be released in 2012.

This is going to be awesomely craptacular.

I don't get it either.. why make a movie about a toy that was basically a fad? And cast that douche as the lead? He's not going to make anyone of the male variety want to watch it, and you'd think given that it's a Stretch Armstrong movie that would be the core audience, if anything?

Taylor Lautner’s global box office stardom is based on his role in Twilight, which had a built-in audience and required him to do nothing but stand around with his shirt off. Meanwhile, Steve Oedekerk’s last script was for Evan Almighty, which earned $75 million less than its budget, domestically. They both have signed on for "Stretch Armstrong".

Sounds like a can't-miss prospect to me.

Ugh. I was a huge fan of this cartoon when I was younger, but this is not going to be something I will watch.
