I don't know what happened over this weekend but they've thrown two shows together as one DVD and calling it Double Feature 2. The last time they did this was because they filmed The Wrestler but I don't think they filmed HDNet shows in Canada so no idea what this is for.
The Hunt Begins- Montreal, Quebec 4/17/09Tyler Black vs. Jimmy JacobsConsidering this is their first singles match excluding their match on one of the HDNet shows, this needed to be a lot better. They've been building it for a long time with hints of dissension since October and the crowd was completely silent here. It didn't help that Tyler has less intensity than a new born baby...okay that's actually pretty intense but point is he sucked. Nobody cared and there wasn't any fire from either man that suggested they hated each other.
Austin Aries vs. Roderick Strong vs. Jay Briscoe vs. Kenny Omega (Four Corner Survival Match)Fun four way with the three veterans trying to make the new guy give up with Aries doing his heel stuff by waiting and picking his shots. Omega hits a moonsault to the outside but totally misses Strong and Briscoe and ends up in the front row, no idea how he did something like that but it looked kinda cool. Like Hero I prefer Omega in PWG where he's a heel. Crowd is still quite quiet except for a few spots where they fly and since this is a four hour show this is going to be a while. They wake up briefly when Omega scores the upset victory on Aries but then quickly go back to being lazy.
Claudio Castagnoli & Jimmy Rave vs. Colt Cabana & Brent AlbrightGod damn it. I do not like this new thing where they book Albright with people I like so have to watch his matches. Return of the toilet paper entrance for Rave, awesome. Ernie Osiris is homeless so steals the toilet paper for himself, someone nails Prince Nana whilst he's talking and he sells it like he got punched in the mouth. Embassy > Sweet & Sour Inc. Crowd has woken up for Embassy and Cabana. They're french Canadians so I don't really understand them but it sounds like they're chanting Mark Henry at Prince Nana. Embassy and Cabana are too awesome to not like this match.
Kevin Steen, El Generico, & Bryan Danielson vs. The American Wolves & Sylvain GrenierWTF kind of team is American Wolves and Sylvan? Davey Richards sings the American national anthem YES YES FUCK YES. Sylvan interrupts and pretends to be pissed then sings it himself, nobody actually gives a fuck about Sylvan, I now understand why they've been dead throughout most of it, knowing this was the main event. Stall tactics, yep, that's how you get a dead crowd into your match. Sylvan spends most time on the apron because he sucks or something, you kind of wonder why bother bringing him in at all but I'm sure they had good reasons. He is a former huge WWE star right? God damn I don't care about this match, I'm gonna skip the rest.
Tag Title Classic- Markham, Ontario 4/18/09Colt Cabana vs. Claudio CastagnoliFun match with lots of chain wrestling and typical Cabana antics. I missed Colt so much.
Austin Aries, Rhett Titus, & Kenny King vs. Kevin Steen, Generico Dos, & Kenny OmegaGenerico is injured so Generico 2 is taking his place. They cut a promo explaining it and Aries pretends to understand and agrees to let the 2nd dude replace him then kicks Generico's crutch from underneath him. Good tag match with a bad spot with Aries taking too long to hit his elbow then deciding to go outside and grab Generico's crutch to mock him, looked lame and couldn't be more obvious it was a reason for Generico 2 to make his come back. Oh well. Still a decent match.
Jimmy Jacobs vs. Delirious (Markham Street Fight)Jimmy is cutting a promo backstage when Delirious jumps him wearing his pissed off red ring gear. Looks like he's pissed from Jimmy taking advantage of his aggression last time and winning, but he's coming out just as aggressive because he's dumb. I just can't take Delirious seriously. He's pretty shitty in serious feuds and better in the role of comedy jobber. They brawl around a bit with Delirious trying to kill Jimmy with a Panic Attack into the guard rail then screaming at the crowd to show he's angry. Delirious really sucks. He pulls out a table and Jimmy gets the better of him by attacking him with a chair, Delirious rage gets better of him again. Fans keep handing Jimmy chairs that he keeps putting in the ring because they know Jimmy is awesome and Delirious sucks too. A "make him bleed Jimmy, make him bleed" chant starts, ha. Delirious wins after the black mist and using the cobra stretch with the spike. Fuck you.
Roderick Strong vs. Jay BriscoeNot watching.
The American Wolves vs. Bryan Danielson & Tyler Black (World Tag Team Title Match)This better be awesome or I'm not going to be too happy. Ha ha, some guy throws rubbish in the ring because the Wolves come out with an American flag so Shane Hagadorn grabs security and tells them to throw his ass out the front door. Davey pisses Dragon off to get in his head by booting him off the apron and talking shit, this should rule. Good exchange where Davey matches Dragon, Dragon offers a handshake but Davey ignores him and attacks Tyler. Everybody gets angry and jumps in the ring for some playground pushing, Danielson spits in Davey's face, I guess they want to create some hatred but it looks lame. American Wolves beat the shit out of Danielson's leg and the crowd gets into this match more than any other this weekend. Danielson has Davey in cattle mutilation and then Eddie knee drops his knee from the top rope fucking his leg up for good. I fucking love Tyler's buckle bomb / superkick combo. They kill Tyler but some how Danielson finds a way to get up and stop the count pissing them off further. Danielson and Tyler realize they having big problems with Wolves and decide to try and end them with elbows to the head over and over and then double cattle mutilations with one minute of the match left. Tyler realizes they aren't giving up and so changes it up and hits god's last gift on Eddie but time expires. Awesome match and totally made up for the pretty shitty weekend.
OverallCrowd was dead through most of the weekend which took away from a lot of the matches making this quite tedious since it's a 4 hour DVD. It had some decent stuff but none of it was anything special which makes me understand why they put two shows together here. Really not worth buying. American Wolves vs. Tyler and Danielson was awesome though and a good way to send the fans home for the weekend with that something special they were looking for.
