We've just learned Michael Jackson was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Los Angeles ... and we're told it was cardiac arrest and that paramedics administered CPR in the ambulance.

He was picked up at his home around 20 minutes ago -- we're told his mother is on the way to visit him.

UPDATE: The 911 call came in at 12:21PM at his Holmby Hills home in L.A.

UPDATE: A Jackson family member tells TMZ Michael is in "really bad shape" and the brothers are headed to UCLA.

UPDATE: We just got off the phone with Joe Jackson, Michael's dad, who says "he is not doing well."

He's been having a new health scare every three weeks lately, hasn't he?

Other sites (BBC, Sky News) are quoting the TMZ report, but won't yet confirm that he's dead.

There are a lot of extremely passionate fans who are going to take this very hard if true.

I'm shocked that the world lost some of pop culture's biggest phenomenons this week. I was barely two years old during the final year of Ed McMahon's run on the Tonight Show, I never had a Farrah Fawcett poster hanging in my room, and I didn't listen to Michael Jackson's music, but this week still weighs heavy on my heart.

Very sad day for the entertainment business, without a doubt.. Michael, despite all his "oddities" and "eccentricities" was an awesomely talented man.. it's just a damn shame and very hard to believe he's dead...

His personal life aside, which was a quagmire/minefield of controversy, he was a one-of-a-kind recording artist. There may never be another talent quite like him.

I went to the official West End stage musical, Thriller Live, earlier this year and it really showcased what a classic catalog of music he released. Great show, great songs.

His legacy will always be a double sided coin, unfortunately, but I can't shake the feeling that his reputation would have only sunk lower the longer he lived, as there always seemed to be something new to gossip and speculate about.

the guy had so much talent, but he just did not have good mental health

In the end, it is sort of good, because his mental health would have just gotten worse as time moves on.

I saw Michael Jackson on 'the other side' before it was reported on the news. My first hit on why he died was stress and an overdose of prescription medication - mixing pain killers - too much for his 100 pound frame. Here we are in Gay Pride Month ... Michael should have come out. Good bye Michael. The world loved you.

Gay pride month, Michael was Gay... dead... coincidence? :shifty:

I remember when he got married with Priscilla Presley, trying to cover it up.  But we are not there yet, the world is still not fully ready to accept Gay and Lesbian. I was watching Tyra on tv and there is still some human that think it is a disease...  :ohdear:  So, some still must die to make an impact, a star like him will help greatly to bring awereness. This is no accident, he chose is departure wisely. To make an impact in this world.

I remember when I was young, is videoclip thriller was so popular, Zombies are scary!!!  :ghost:

See ya later...

When the Human Being finally makes sense of light and dark in their life. For it is one of the most difficult things to accept for a Human.

In 3D, the Human Being makes some interesting observations. If something wonderful and grand happens to them, such as a healing, they say, "This must have come from God. I couldn't do that. It had to come from God. Praise God." If something truly evil takes place in their life, where darkness seems to grab them and take them into a dark place, the Human says, "Well, that had to be a demon. That had to be the devil; Satan himself grabbed me and pulled me away from good things." You see, Human Beings are very interesting in this way. They're not responsible for anything that happens in either direction, are they? Something good happens, it must be God. Something bad happens, it must be the devil. So I will ask you then, what are you doing here? Are you just "sitting there in neutral," waiting for one of two entities to grab your soul? Do you have no responsibility for anything?

Blessed is the Human Being who realizes that within each one, there is the power of dark and light. There is God there, and there is the absence of God.

Ok Phenix.. are you saying Priscilla covered up his "gayness" or that he married her.. if it's the latter, he was married to Lisa Marie Presley... at any rate...

Who the hell cares?  I realize his death has to sensationalized or it's not news but once.. just once.. I'd like to see the talent be the main discussion...
