I was sitting around trying to think of some fun thread ideas we can do weekly around here and with all the whining and complaining about inevitable money grubbing remakes I thought this might be a fun idea. Each week, or whenever I remember, there will be a thread posted with a different movie as the subject where we'll recast the main actors and maybe think of some ways to tweak the story to make it more modern and/or interesting. This week's film is The Breakfast Club, here is my cast:

Alec Baldwin will be cast as Principal Richard Vernon originally played by Paul Gleason
Creed Bratton will be cast as Carl The Janitor originally played by John Kapelos
Emile Hirsch will be cast as Andrew 'The Athlete' Clark originally played by Emilio Estevez
Anton Yelchin will be cast as Brian 'The Brain' Johnson originally played by Anthony Michael Hall
Ben Foster will be cast as John 'The Criminal' Bender originally played by Judd Nelson
Megan Fox will be cast as Claire 'The Princess' Standish originally played by Molly Ringwald
Ellen Page will be cast as Allison 'The Basket Case' Reynolds originally played by Ally Sheedy

It's 2:30 AM and I'm tired, I just wanted to get the thread started and I'll add more tomorrow sometime. What would you do if you had to remake this '80s teen classic? Who would you case in the title roles? What would you change about the movie over all?

For the record, the reason I haven't replied is not because it's a bad idea, I just haven't seen the movie.

I like most of those.  I would argue the remake would still have Paul Gleason in the role of the Principal, because it is so fucking iconic.  Either that, or Judd Nelson.  For the Brain, I can see Shia LeBouf.  For the Princess, I can see Miley Cyrus.

Glad to hear that there's interest in this thread, I do admit that my determination to post more of these was shot down a bit by the lack of replies.

Using Judd Nelson for the principal is an epic idea, Advocate. The irony would be awesome.
