A Motherly Rant
« on: June 01, 2009, 09:14:27 AM »

So you're stuck with me and my rant..my daughter is a fairly intelligent person, heading toward being a pediatric oncology nurse when all is said and done.. so why can't she pick a man that's worth a shit? The last one.. oh gawd.. lazy.. wouldn't work.. she'd drive 50 miles to get him and bring him here so she could see him.. ok.. that one, she finally kicked to the curb.. the one now? Well, I actually like the guy and he does work but... he was arrested for aggrivated menacing and having a weapon while intoxicated in February and goes to court some time this month. After really being pissed off about it, I figured Katy would help him pull his head out of his ass..uh.. no.. last night, he takes off with a buddy, gets drunk.. not bright enough to call for a ride home.. totals his car. He's not hurt as is the case with 90% of drink drivers and he was lucky he didn't kill somebody this time around.. Katy was in tears telling me all this and I just looked at her, madder than a wet hen since I'm a firm believer all drunk drivers should be UNDER a jail somewhere and asked.. "Are you ready to come back home?" She said she "thinks" she is but for some reason, I don't really expect it to happen....she's a full time college kid who needs to concentrate on school instead of what appears to be yet another loser...

:nochance: Katy's apparently already told him of my stance on drunks behind steering wheels and that he should avoid me for awhile since I can and will kick his ass...I told she's a reasonably samry girl.. and she knows her mama well.... gawd.. I'm pissed....

Thanks for lettin' me carry on.. not that I wouldn't anyway but thanks... ;)

Mad as a wet hen. Brilliant.

What happened to the guy who you praised for helping her through her illness, and got engaged to her? Is he one of the above? (Sorry, it's just hard not to get drawn into the soap opera. :D)

We're such unique and self-aware creatures, yet we can't be the paradigm or standard that goes above simply being an animal,we find ways to be worse than them.

Funny how when it's the poor that steal,it's theivery, but when it's the rich that commit the same atrocity on a much more massive level,it's business as usual.

We're both devils. Wanna know which one you are?

Matter comes and writes the play, for it's a messed up ID. Forget the keys in your hand that lock up liberty for the benefit of divinity, for if not,you are not self, without anew to be.

You would love me as a son in law.  I got a great education, a well paying job, and a great future.  Of course, this all depends on the level of hotness of your daughter

I think the reason that your daughter picks these losers has something to do with the fact that since she spent so much time being sick and is studying to be a doctor, she has a thing for taking care of people. For 'fixing' them.

I mean, that could explain it. It's better than just thinking she's got really bad taste. But if it is true, and that is something she is subconsciously doing, she needs to knock it off - and fast! Some people aren't worth fixing, and not everyone can be 'saved.'

That's just my two cents, but I'm incredibly jaded so who knows if you should have even read that.

Well drinking and driving is pretty horrible. An act I haven't done in my recolection. I always have a designated driver. Or I get a cab, the times I do go out and decide I want to be social.

I know i'm late commenting, but heres my 2 cents anyway.

You're damn right your daughter shouldn't date someone who drinks alcohol and gets behind the wheel. Who in the blue hell can think thats a wise thing to do? And especially when you know you're daughters emotionally involved with someone who does, thats a big no no surely. Not that I am a parent or anything or I know a great deal, but it's a matter of wrong and right here. And drink driving is a big no no and i'm sure the thought of Katy going in to a vehicle with her boyfriend after he's been drinking has crossed your mind. I mean, she may be sensible but if he pressures her to get into the car do you know for certain she would decline the offer?

With that said, i'm not sure how old your daughter is but could she be going through a stage here? I know loads of girls that have gone for strange guys that I see no logic in. The guys are usually 'bad boys' (lol sorry can't think of the word), but thats how I guess their classed... if they're involved in drugs, alcohol, fights, etc... some 'good' girls do find this attractive... for some reason. This may explain it. Hey, it could be a Marrissa attraction to Ryan just like on the OC :)

I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure you're daughter is sensible enough to make good decisions herself, and with your mentoring i'm sure she's on the straight and narrow. The fact she drives so far to get him is probably a credit to her upbringing.... is loyal, doesn't want to give up easily, wants to do her best, try her hardest to make everything work
