Miami, Florida

Otis Jones vs. Kenny Dior

The show opens, flickering in from black, and right away we’re met with a camera man frantically running through a backstage parking lot. Fairfax briefly welcomes us to the show and explains that the first match was scheduled to be Otis Jones vs. Kenny Dior in an unsanctioned street fight, and as the name would suggest, the two men are already fighting out in the street. The cameraman reaches a large metal wall with a small hinged door in it, and as he gets close to the door, it bursts open, Dior and Otis both falling through trying to throw punches at each other. Fairfax notes that the match is unsanctioned, there will be no referee - there are no “official” pin falls, and the “winner” will be whoever can still stand.

Otis seems to have the upper hand coming in from the street, and begins throwing Dior in anything that’s nailed down. Dior’s face goes flying into the metal wall, a brick wall, the floor, a table... It’s not long before he’s busted open, bleeding from a cut above his left eyebrow. Otis Jones sits Dior against a large metal crate on wheels, then steps back slapping his knee indicating he was going to charge it through Dior against the crate. But as he runs forwards, Dior rolls out and throws his feet in the path of Otis, tripping Otis up and sending him jaw first into the top of the crate. When we next see Otis’ face, we can see blood coming from his lip and from inside his mouth. Solomon speculates that he’s lost a tooth - “at least he was already ugly.”

The two continue to fight around the backstage area of the arena, sometimes among fans waiting in line at concession stands or merchandise stalls, each man dragging his opponent (or throwing him) around when they have control. Dior gets several near falls on Otis, counting his own pin as though for bragging rights, but Otis' heart is too strong and he kicks out at two. Both men are soon covered in blood, without a referee to keep them under control or stop the match. Fairfax and Solomon remain mostly silent, as though worried for the two competitors. As Dior holds a chair high above his head, ready to bring it down hard across the face of Otis as he lays on the floor after kicking out of a near-fall, a man in dark clothing runs up behind Dior and knocks him down. He starts kicking Dior, knocking the steel chair away and briefly checking on Otis. Dior scrambles away on his hands and knees, but briefly looks up at his attacker and is visibly shocked. He scrambles away faster. The cameraman finally gets ahead of the man as he stalks a begging Dior.

“MY GOD THAT’S ILLY MUSTAFA! THAT’S ILLY MUSTAFA! ILLY MUSTAFA HAS RETURNED!!”

Dior gets to his feet and starts running, but with the loss of blood and injuries sustained in this fight, Illy easily catches up and delivers more kicks and vicious punches. He throws Dior’s already bloodied head across a catering table, which crumbles under Dior’s weight, and smashes a glass across his forehead. Then he takes a shard of the broken glass and holds it against Dior’s busted open head, causing Dior to scream out in agony. Solomon says he’s about to throw up, as Dior delivers a kick to Illy’s groin out of desperation. Illy goes down screaming almost as much as Dior, and Dior scrambles again, heading to a room off of the backstage corridor. He opens the door as Illy gets to his feet and and gives chase again. We turn the corner of the door at the same time as Illy, just in time to see Dior somehow on his feet and wielding a steel chair. He swings at Illy, knocking him down just inside the door of the room. Dior falls out of the door, closing it behind him and props the steel chair firmly under the door handle.

He turns around to be met by Otis Jones who swings a punch at Dior. It connects, but Dior doesn’t go down, and once again delivers a low blow with his boot. Otis is down, and Dior goes to get the chair propped against the door handle so he could deliver the chair shot he wanted to earlier before he was attacked by Illy. But as he goes to grab the chair, the door starts shaking, and Illy can be heard yelling and trying to force the door open on the other side. Dior looks around for something else to use instead, and finds a small but heavy looking steel crate sitting next to the door. He picks the crate up with difficulty, getting his arms around it easily but struggling under its weight. He lets out a roar and walks over to Otis, then with a great deal of effort, throws it the short distance to his fallen opponent. As the crate heads towards Otis’ face, the camera turns away and all that is heard is a vicious mix of a crack and a thump. Dior looks shocked at himself for what he has just done, and slowly walks over to Otis. The camera remains focused on Dior, as if it doesn’t want to catch the damage done to Otis on film. It appears that Dior has put one foot across Otis’ chest as he counts out loud “one.....two...........three.”

As he says three, the chair under the door handle nearby goes flying across the floor as the door it was holding closed bursts open. Illy stands in the doorway taking a moment to take in what he is seeing. Dior suddenly makes a run for it, and Illy begins to chase after him. But then he sees Otis laying on the floor and immediately goes over to him and calls for help. He can be heard trying to bring Otis round as the show fades to a commercial.

Winner:  Kenny Dior by pinfall, 15:36.

Fairfax and Solomon solemnly recap what just happened, highlighting the return of Illy and promising an update on Otis Jones if they can get one. Fairfax says that he thinks the best thing to do is to just move on with the show. We go backstage where Keeley is standing by with Julien Bosley. She says that he has asked for this time, and questions why. Bosley takes the mic from Keeley and says that he knew it wouldn’t be easy to become a HPW wrestler, with his past, but he at least hoped the management would understand. He thought it would be the fans he had to try and win over. But it turns out that Duxen has been his biggest obstacle. Suddenly Duxen has some kind of concept of integrity, and Bosley says that’s a joke. He says that the only way he can think of settling this is for the two to meet in the middle of the ring, and settle this like men. He says he’ll prove to Duxen that he’s worthy of being here, at Duxen’s expense.

Malik & Agramon vs. McWilliam & Gregor

The music of Trent Malik hits and out he comes to a loud ovation.  Malik seems indifferent to the support he is receiving and continues his way down the ramp.  Before he reaches the ring steps both Andrew McWilliam and Matt Gregor jump him from behind.  The two quickly assault Malik to try and eliminate him from the match.  They shove him hard into the steel steps and immediately follow up with a double vertical suplex on to the concrete floor.  The two continue to stomp away at Malik when a loud explosion interrupts the savage beating.

The 7 foot monster’s music hits and he is led out by HPW’s femme fatale, Miss Athena Star.  The monster nails Matt Gregor with a big boot knocking him down on the ramp.  He steps over the body of Malik showing no indication of helping his partner up and gives his full attention to Andrew McWilliam.  Much like last week McWilliam retreats from the monster wanting no part of him.  Agramon chases down McWilliam who is quickly darting around the ring much like a scene from a Friday the 13th movie.

To Agramon’s surprise McWilliam quickly pulls out a piece of piano wire that he used to choke out Trent Malik before throwing him off the stage a few weeks ago, and grabs Miss Athena Star.  McWilliam threatens to choke Star out with the wire as the monster pauses in hesitation.  The momentary distraction is all McWilliam needed as Matt Gregor was able to recover and fly through the ropes and nail Agramon with a  suicide dive, crushing the monster’s spine up against the guard rail.  McWilliam throws Athena to the floor as the demonic duo go to work on Agramon.

They work the monster for several minutes with Agramon being able to fight off the two only for a few short seconds each time due to the overwhelming numbers.  The referee tries to encourage the men to get into the ring but the war has advanced too far for any of them to listen.  Some how the two are able to ground Agramon and set his leg up on to the steel steps.  McWilliam grabs a steel chair and tries to smash the ankle of the monster but at the last second Trent Malik dives and knocks the steel chair flying to the ground.  Malik tries to lunge at McWilliam but McWilliam uses his superior speed to quickly escape his wrath.  Gregor charges at Malik but gets caught with a big hurricanrana on to the concrete floor whilst his leader escapes up the ramp, once again not being interested in fighting either Malik or Agramon face to face.

Malik throws Matt Gregor into the ring and drops him to the canvas with the Midnight Malice, ending the punishment quickly as it is Andrew McWilliam who he really wants.

“ONNNNNNNE

TWWWOOOOO

THREEEEEEEE!”

Malik is able to successfully pin Matt Gregor but as he turns around he gets the massive hands of Agramon wrapped around his throat.  Agramon lifts Malik high in the air and sends him crashing to the mat, signifying that he did not appreciate Malik being so slow to stop the double team.

Winner:  Trent Malik & Agramon by pinfall, 12:57.

Standing backstage with Jimmy Duxen, Keeley is dressed in a dazzling low-cut gown, clearly not fulfilling secretarial duties tonight.

"Mister Duxen, a short while ago we heard bold comments from the Xcon, Julian Bosley. Before you defend your World Title against Michael Bloodman tonight, how do you respond to the Xcon?"

Duxen, dressed in his ring gear with the title belt slung over his shoulder, looks our way. "Bosley, I'm going to make this real simple for you, because I know that where you come from, intelligence is thin on the ground. If you have a beef with me, I'll be more than happy to beat some respect into you next week in a match, one-on-one. A lot of people seem to question my integrity, but I'm not the jailbird around here. You want a second chance, Xcon? You wanna prove that you deserve an opportunity in HPW? Then bring everything you've got next week, and I'll gladly take it all away from you. Then we'll see who's laughing."

"Oh, speaking of taking everything away," recalls Keeley, "I got a call from Harrison Hughes this afternoon, while you were preparing for your match tonight."

"That's not surprising, you'll get very used to it."

"He said he wants to wrestle at HPW 5, with ownership of the company on the line."

"Yep."

"He proposes a two-out-of-three falls match..."

"Uh-huh."

"...and if he wins two falls to zero, he'll regain ownership of the company and you'll never work for HPW again."

Duxen gazes into the distance, bored.

"If you win two falls to zero, you remain chairman of HPW and Harrison's gone for good."

"Exactly how it is right now," sighs Jimmy.

"But if he wins two falls to one, he regains the company but you're immune to getting fired for one year..."

"Can we hurry this along?"

"And if you win two falls to one, you keep ownership and Harrison's rehired to the roster, again with a year's immunity to termination."

"Listen, Keeley, this is one long broken record. My last secretary had these calls and emails every week, the same damn thing. Tell you what, next time Hughes calls the office, put him through to me. I'll make sure he takes the hint. This match that he wants so badly is never going to happen - not at HPW 5, not ever. He can challenge me, he can try to attack me, he can cost me my job with the St Louis Police, but it's not gonna work. I have nothing to gain from wrestling Harrison Hughes and putting this company on the line. End of story."

"Alright Mister Duxen. Chad and Doug, back to you."

"Wait a minute, that's it?"

"What do you mean?"

"You're not going to ask me about Illy Mustafa? You don't think it's at all noteworthy that a retired sellout no longer on the roster has infiltrated this building to assault a wrestler?"

"But he is on the roster. Remember when I, um, deleted the payroll, and you told me to file all the contracts back into the system? Illy's was there. I typed it all in myself."

Duxen's eyes pierce through his secretary, "You cannot be serious. He was removed from the system when he quit the company, and YOU re-entered his contract?!"

Clearly on the back foot, Keeley is worried, "But it was in the file with everyone else's, I didn't know..."

Jimmy punches the wall behind them, grunting in frustration, "Do you know what you've done? Now I have to explain to the cops that are on their way here, that he's legally under contract and I shouldn't have called them out. Do you realize how embarrassing that is for me, of all people right now?"

"I... I'm sorry..."

The gold belt sliding off his shoulder, the chairman slams his palm into the same wall, and storms away from the interviewer with a dark cloud of anger over his head.

Jimmy Duxen vs. Michael Bloodman – HPW World Championship

The music of Michael Bloodman hits as the hungry rising star makes his way down the ring for his first ever shot at the HPW World Championship.  As he’s walking down the ramp he glances over his shoulder as chants for Illy Mustafa break out.  Once Bloodman is satisfied that he is safe he continues down to the ring.

The music of the champion plays and Jimmy Duxen walks through the curtains with his championship belt sitting proudly on his shoulder.  He calculatedly walks down the ramp paying no attention from the backlash of the crowd.  A small surprising chant of Hughes comes from a few members of the audience trying to get under the skin of Duxen.  Jimmy moves his hand around a little bit apparently being visibly hurt from his out burst a few minutes earlier.

The referee goes through the rules and the match begins.  Bloodman quickly uses his power to try and eliminate Duxen early on by throwing him around the ring, trying to grasp him long enough to deliver a spinebuster but Duxen is able to wriggle free with each attempt.  Bloodman continues to go forward showing eager aggression which causes Duxen to slide out of the ring and use stalling tactics to gain control of the pace that the match will go.

Bloodman confidently holds the ropes open for the champion and challenges him to step through them.  Duxen accepts the challenge and slowly steps on to the apron.  He wearily begins to step through when suddenly BAM!  Duxen sucker punches Bloodman.  Duxen quickly chops the powerhouse down to size although still trying to get some feeling back into his hand that is clearly irritating him.  Once Duxen has successfully grounded the challenger he begins to drop several knees into the small of the back rather than to the head like we are so use to seeing him do.

Duxen continues to pound away on the spine of the challenger.  He leaps to the second rope and delivers a forearm to the back as Bloodman tries to get up, forcing all of his weight on to his spine, knowing that if your back is hurt then all of your power and movement is eliminated.

The crowd’s attention is drawn away for a minute as Julian Bosley makes his way down to ringside apparently wanting to get a closer look at the action.  Duxen shows he isn’t one to shy away and uses the opportunity to send a message to Bosley by further inflicting damage on the significantly bigger Michael Bloodman.

Duxen stays in control until he arrogantly tries to deliver the Duxen Cutter 2.0.  Bloodman easily throws Duxen off and as Jimmy tries to jump on Bloodman to stop him gaining any momentum he gets caught with an explosive spinebuster.  Bloodman is unable to take advantage because of the damage done to his back but the power of Bloodman is evident as Duxen seems immediately taken out of his game.  Bloodman struggles back to his feet with Duxen.  Some how Bloodman is able to power the champion up and deliver a big running powerslam.

“ONNNNNNNNNNNNEE

TWWWWOOOOOOOOO

THREEEEEEEEEEEEEE-“

Jimmy is able to get a shoulder up after a long 2 count to end the dreams of Bloodman.  Bloodman grabs Duxen and sets him up for the Bloodman Effect but the injured back prevents him from being able to lift him for the move.  Duxen grabs Bloodman’s arm and throws it to the side so it wildly lashes out and hits the referee.  Unfortunately George Redwood caught a finger to the eye and turns his back.  Duxen quickly hits a low blow and a DDT to ground Bloodman.  Duxen’s yells at the referee to turn around and count.

“ONNNNNNNNE

TWWWWOOOO

THREEEEEEE-“

Bloodman some how kicks out after the low blow and being planted head first into the mat.  The referee is still effected from the poke of the eye and still doesn’t have his attention on the mat.  Duxen pulls an object out of his tights much like he did when he won the championship from Illy Mustafa.  Duxen stalks Bloodman as he makes his way to his feet but before Duxen can nail him with the object, Julian Bosley makes his way up on to the apron and snatches it away.  Bloodman looks to take advantage at the distraction but Duxen quickly moves causing Bloodman to knock Bosley off the apron.  Duxen quickly rolls Bloodman up with a schoolboy pin and plants his feet on the ropes for extra leverage.  He shouts at the blinded ref to count once again.

“ONNNNNNNEE

TWWWWOOOO

THREEEEEEEE!”

The crowd boos heavily as Jimmy Duxen is announced the winner of the match and still the HPW World Champion.  Before Jimmy can celebrate his victory, Bosley slides into the ring and spins Duxen around.  Bosley quickly lifts Duxen up and delivers a devastating F5 to a huge ovation.  The show goes off the air with The Xcon standing above the chairman sending a clear message that he doesn’t plan on being another victim of the Duxen’s actions.

Winner:  Jimmy Duxen by pinfall, 22:01.
