Last year, a company named Blaze released a
portable version of the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis in the US), but aside from the 20 built-in games, there was no way of adding more, or playing your old cartridges.
Now there's a new development:
Just to give you heads up on the remake of one of my favourite consoles from my youth... the Sega Mega Drive. It's due for release on April 24.
It will be slimmer than the original due to being completely redesigned by Blaze and will retail for £39.99. Blaze also designed the handheld Sega Mega Drive. The retro drive includes 15 built-in games. The cartridge slot means you can play any old Mega Drive games you still have.

The official website is
here, stating that it'll play cartridges from any region. The original consoles were technically capable of doing this too, but Sega prevented it by making the cartridge slots on the case different sizes. To "chip" them all you had to do was cut the hole bigger...
I still have my Mega Drive packed away somewhere, so I'm not likely to buy this one, but it's great to see the property being put to solid use all these years on.
