The first tone I went to college was for game design. I went to fullsail in otown. I didn't finish due to funds more than anything. Though in retrospect that's not a bad thing I saw that my hobby can't be my job. So I went back to television. Though being back in school for it purposes is tins easier and notas expensive.

I am not entirely sure what I'm planning on doing with my degree in Film Studies, but luckily the program I am in lists Film Studies as a concentrate of a larger BA in Telecommunications, which opens all kinds of possible doors to prospective jobs.

The goal has always been to write television and movies, and eventually direct and produce my own work, but I'm taking it one step at a time. As of now, I have three working pilots, one of which the first draft was completed last October and the other two are still being developed.

My goal is to have three pilots completed by graduation in May of 2011 and then get a nice desk job while I shop around my pilots, hoping that they become more than just my dreams on paper. And if that fails, I suppose I'll still have my desk job.

Good luck with those, Gopher. We'll organize a petition to get those pilots picked up by networks. We ought to be able to rustle up at least half a dozen signatures, maybe eight or nine. They can't possibly refuse.

Got my reply from Liverpool John Moores Uni today, they've invited me to go in for an interview on the 25th (day before my birthday).. and I have to have a portfolio of work, thing is I don't have like hardly any work from college 'cos it was a couple of years ago.

A good listener tries to understand what the other person is saying. In the end he may disagree sharply, but because he disagrees, he wants to know exactly what it is he is disagreeing with.

So I've still not managed to decide between John Moores and Huddersfield and I really need to send my evidence off to student finance like NOW or I won't get my loans on time.. I's starting to stress me out again.

Gonna give you a word of advice here.  I have found in life that you never know the perfect destination.  If you take one opportunity over the other, you will probably never know if you made the BEST move.  It is just impossible.  But you will know if you made a GOOD move (and at the same time, if you made a bad move).  Most likely, there are indicators that both of these opportunities are good moves.

Basically saying, no matter what, you will be making a good move.

    Hope that relieves some stress.

  • My advice would be to make sure you read exactly what each course at each uni offers and what they do there. I went to Kent Uni thinking it would be half and half practical/theory, and I was only really interested in the practical side, but I thought the theory could be interesting too. Turns out it's seen as a theory course and we should look at the practical stuff as a bonus. Which it is. Cause otherwise uni would suck.

In the long run maybe its better cause Kent is seen as a 'better' uni than my other option, which is apparently a good thing for jobs, but I don't really care about that at all. Wish I had gone to Illy's uni cause it's more practical. Least I think it will be, right now he's doing loads of crap he doesn't care about that has nothing to do with film, but he has to do it. That'd be a big downside to going there.

So maybe just go with what Advo said, both will have good and bad things, the experience will be what you make it.

It's been 2 days theory, 2 days practical, but there's a module called Animating the Imagination which is completely pointless and there was radio that I hated.  TV and Film were awesome though, just wish it wasn't group work or I wasn't grouped with retards.

  • I'm pretty sure I've decided now on Huddersfield. But I need to ring up and find out the tuition fees so I can add it to a form I need to send off to get my student finance sorted.. gonna have to be Monday now as the Uni wont have any staff on until then.

So Illy's possibly saved your career (or ruined your life, depending on how it goes from here).

  • If you looked at the people in my Uni you wouldn't believe how true that actually is.  They made me get an A in film studies at A level to get in and now I'm in I'm seeing people that can barely tie their own shoe laces.
