  • I find it hilarious when pop acts marketed to a younger audience come out with lyrics that are suggestive at the least, and at times downright salacious. Here's the latest from Alexandra Burke, winner of last year's X Factor (a show much like American Idol):

    Quote
Oh, here I go, drip droppin' way down low
    You're 'bout to miss
    Winding to this
Don't make me start without you
Oh, here I go, you're moving way too slow
    I'm coming up
    Put down your cup
Don't make me start without you

This will no doubt end up on compilations titled My First Pop Album and Teen Mix 2010. Of course it's fine because kids don't read anything into the words, but I want to see their parents' faces when they hear their little angels singing it themselves.

  • Out of habit, I hovered over the picture looking for the little text box to pop up. :(

I'd have pasted it, but it wasn't particularly good for this one.

A good listener tries to understand what the other person is saying. In the end he may disagree sharply, but because he disagrees, he wants to know exactly what it is he is disagreeing with.

Opposite the bus stop where I'm standing there are two late teens, each holding a giant red sign advertising a pizza promotion to passing drivers, and one's wearing an oversized pizza box that covers from his neck down to his waist and out to his elbows.

To their credit, they seem to be enjoying their slice of "fame," and not thinking of topping themselves.

I still find it odd seeing clips of this on BBC Breakfast. If it was someone like Missy Elliot or Lil Kim singing it, they'd probably have guests on the sofa saying "ban this filth," but because it's one of Simon Cowell's starlets dancing around in her lacey leotard, it must be perfectly innocent.
