Well, I have some good news. My Mom had her last chemo treatment this week. She meets with her doctor for her final test results this week, but it appears that her cancer is going into remission. I'd like to thank any and all who had a kind word for me and kept us in any prayers. Hopefully, the cancer won't be back.

Though I'm sure it hasn't been an easy ride, it sounds like she's been very lucky with it - great news.

Well, there is an update for those that are keeping up. My last post about this, was looking good. We thought that the cancer was going away and that my Mom was headed toward remission. That did not happen. When she stopped the chemo, the cancer started to grow again. The doctor said he just could not believe it. The treatments had looked like they were working so well. But, he said my mothers body was too weak for another round of chemo. So, it's been about 2 months without chemo. My Mom has actually been felling pretty good. She hasn't had any of the pain that is usually associated with the type of lung cancer she has. The doctors are amazed at the lack of symptoms she shows. But, this Sunday, she had a pain in her side and started running fever. We had to admit her to the hospital. The diagnosis was a bladder infection. I was glad to hear that. But, with her immune system down, any infection is dangerous. She got rounds of antibiotics and was released today. She seems to be doing really well now...other than having the cancer to still deal with. In a week she goes for another scan and a new game plan.

That's the update.

Sounds like it's playing dirty. I hope things get back on the right track next week, when they've had a chance to evaluate the changes and plot a new strategy in response.

That is the tricky thing about cancer. Just when you think you're in the clear it comes back and throws you off guard. I hope that things get better for you and your mom, Purps.  :)

Cancer is something horrible that I never thought anybody I knew would have to deal with, but alas, such is life, and I learned firsthand,as I had an experience similiar to yours. Anyways,I am not the praying type,so I know all I can do is hope things get better for you and your mother. Hope to hear some excellent news.

We're such unique and self-aware creatures, yet we can't be the paradigm or standard that goes above simply being an animal,we find ways to be worse than them.

Funny how when it's the poor that steal,it's theivery, but when it's the rich that commit the same atrocity on a much more massive level,it's business as usual.

Money makes the world go around...until it spins straight off of its own axis.

To theists, God is the clutch that sets everything into gear. To atheists, God is the imaginary crutch that sets everything into fear.

We're both devils. Wanna know which one you are?

Matter comes and writes the play, for it's a messed up ID. Forget the keys in your hand that lock up liberty for the benefit of divinity, for if not,you are not self, without anew to be.

Evangelicals and dominionists are somewhere in between nuts and asshole. They're perineum cancers. They're twernt tumors. Because if they twernt there, they wouldn't be a pain in America's ass. And they wish to wipe their excrement with the Constitution.

Civility and common sense are the first causalities to make room for large egos and larger wallets.

That sucks, purps. Two of my aunts were diagnosed with breast cancer, and my mother's close personal friend was diagnosed with skin cancer, it is a horrible experience for anyone to go through. One of my aunts was recently given less than two years to live, the other one has just gone into remission and we're crossing our fingers. I'm one of the people who can freely admit that I do not believe one way or another as to the existence of God, or the power of prayer. Seeing as I'm uncertain I don't see the harm in praying and hoping that if he is out there, that he does hear me. I'll add your mother to my laundry list of favor's to ask the big guy upstairs for. Keep strong, purps.

Here is the new update.

As I said before, my Mom has been unable to have any kind of chemo treatments due to the fact that her body isn't strong enough to handle it. The doctors have been watching her kidney because it isn't functioning as full capacity. This week they realized that one of the areas of cancer has grown and is pressing against her kidney and causing it to not work properly. So, my Mom has made the decision to undergo an experimental treatment in an effort to combat the growing cancer. She has had to sign a bunch of releases and got her first treatment today. Basically it comes in an IV drip and a pill. She takes both. We don't know if it will work or not. We don't know what kind of side effects the treatment may cause her to deal with. They gave a long list of possible side effects, but you never know which ones you will have to deal with. I'm trying to spend as much time with her as I can so if I disappear at anytime, this will probably be the reason.

That's the latest.

It sounds like she's prepared to give anything a shot. Needless to say, fingers crossed for her.
