Family Illness
« on: March 17, 2008, 02:38:08 PM »

I'm not sure if many have noticed, but I haven't been around much lately. Two weeks ago, my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. It is in both lungs and it's an aggressive form of cancer. The results came back that they could not cure it. The only thing that can be done is for her to undergo Chemotherapy and hope it goes into remission. They told us that even if it does, it will eventually come back. They told us that she could live a year, two years or twenty years, it just depends on how the cancer responds to the treatment and how hard she fights it herself. She started the first round of chemo last week and goes again the first of April. Needless to say, I'll be hit or miss around here from now on.

That really sucks, for all of you. I hope she's able to get the most out of the time she has left, however long that may be.

A good listener tries to understand what the other person is saying. In the end he may disagree sharply, but because he disagrees, he wants to know exactly what it is he is disagreeing with.

I thought would give a quick update for those that are curious. My mother has been through 3 Chemotherapy treatments and will do 3 more and then she will take a break so her body can recover a bit. But, we did get the first report this week and the cancer is shrinking. The treatment seems to be working. Hopefully, it will continue to work and will go into a full remission. But, right now it's still small steps in the process.

That's the update.

I can't stand cancer. I've watched it take the lives of too many good people. Glad to know your mom's being strong and doing what she can to kick this disease in the ass.
