Reve Mortel - Death Dream
« on: September 10, 2007, 07:54:16 AM »

Salut les amis!  :)

It is with pleasure that I present to you… *drum roll*  :pompom:

My FIRST book!!! REVE MORTEL (DEATH DREAM) it’s out in the world now!  :jiggy:

Now I know that most of you won’t buy it because it’s in French (right? because it's in French huh?  :giggle:), but I’m planning to have it translated in the future. I could do it myself actually, so I might just do that, it depends on my laziness. I’m actually working on my 2nd book. I like what he did with the cover, to put the earth there, great stuff!

The quote that inspired me the most to finally “get out of the closet” is from one of the best spiritual writer, Richard Bach, that say : A professional writer is an amateur who didn't quit.  :ponder:

The story is not something new; we have seen many books or movies about “the end of the world”. What differentiate my story from the rest, it’s this unique, yet freaky for now, new spiritual knowledge.

It’s the story of a young guy, Nick Letendre, 17 years old that have intense dreams. He write is dreams because they are great story and he is fascinating that each day, he remembers is dreams. One of is dream really happens in real life, then a murder and then the death of is girlfriend, will he be able to save her? Then he dreams about the end of the world and now he must save the world.

What is cool is I wrote this when I was 17 years old in 1997, and back then I was not as freaky, so adding the spiritual knowledge into my story was natural, it was really what was missing in a way to finish the story. I feel this story needs to be told, and if one person on the planet feels inspired by it, then my job is done.

So I’m very excited right now, I would love to become a writer full time, but for now, I’ll focus on publishing everything’s I wrote. And I was thinking that maybe I’m going to put together a book of everything’s I wrote in English, from my essay on the Matrix to my spiritual wrestling columns.

Et voila!!

This below is what appears in the chain mail, you will find the link at the bottom where my book is on sale. It's in Euro, from France, it sells for around 22$ Canadian. I have to confirm for the Quebec. This is my "preface", there is a picture of me at the back, which is not great, I receive better pictures yesterday but it was too late, so it will be for my next book. Ironically it said "product not found", but you can see it on the left panel, I have to check this out.

- Pierre Charette

Congratulations man! I thought it was a big deal when one of my crappy little short stories got published but a whole book...wow. :applaud:

The story idea sounds great, its a nice twist on the end-of-the-world scenario.

The link doesn't work, try and get one up soon so we can all check out your book.

Ok I put a new link, for some reasons I had a wrong link in there! You should now be able to see it!

Thanks guys! I have asked the editor if I can publish books in english, he seems open to that. He said I have to make sure there is no mistakes.... since when I do english grammmmatiKal mistakes???!! GRAMMAR MAN to the rescue!!!

I'll definitely let you know when I have the story translated.

Lawman, somethings i'm going to do eventually and I have seen some do it, is what they do is they compile all their short stories into one book and then you put a title to it. Check it out!

I have also found out that the Quebec editor does not work, so my book is available in France only, well, you can buy it online if you are from Quebec too or if you can read French, but mainly the editor is in France.

Wow... Congrats. You're doing what I want to do. I want to write a book, this is amazing. I'm so happy for you, and its really inspiring to have come in contact with an actual author. I'll watch your book. Soon as it comes in English I'll buy a copy. Heh if you get big enough to do book signings I'd love to have your signature on the copy I get.

Thanks Ethan! Keep that dream alive and write!

I receive an email this morning, a journalist is going to interview me about my book.   :w00t:

Well, I think they are doing that with everyone, but it still kinda cool.

Excellent, congrats Phenix! :#1:

It sounds a bit like the character in Heroes who keeps painting the future, or the show Early Edition where he always receives tomorrow's paper today - but I'm sure your take on it will be much... freakier. ;)

Good luck with sales and the translation.

Congrats, man !  :clap:You published a book !  :applaud: Cool !  :DWE all always knew that you had the talent, but to realize it by writing a book ! Man, I'm so happy for you ! And to think of it, I talked to you so much about myself, my problems and you graced me with your advice.

And you even had an interview taken. Man, you're already a celebrity ! :#1: I see ten years down the line, when you've written half a dozen more books like this, each one better than the other, and you take world tours to give speeches in universities and book signings, and become a world-famous writer, then I'll proudly tell my friends 'I know this man, I've talked to him, I've discussed my life with him !' :D

Rest assured that I'll buy the English translation the moment it comes out, and encourage my friends to buy it as well. As it is, I love fiction, especially if it concerns with the supernatural.

We're all proud of you, Phenix, and best of luck for the future !

P.S. You're one handsome man as well !
