I don't really remember it, but I don't remember it being especially terrible or anything.

It was better than what CBS has had to offer for a late night talk show for the last twenty years.

Edit: I just had to check YouTube for some Magic:

That's the first time I've seen any part of that show since it was still on the air twelve years ago. I can definitely see why it was cancelled, but it's not any worse than Craig Kilborn, Craig Fergurson, or most of what Letterman or Leno craps out.

  • Lot of things been making me angry in my absence from the internet...

-Comcast. Took them TWO weeks to get out to my house to turn on my internet after I moved, and I specifically asked them if I needed to buy a wireless router, they said no, and come home the day it was installed to find out they only put in a modem. The router? Free with a 9.95 shipping fee... WHY THE FUCK DIDNT THEY JUST BRING IT? Now I have to take turns plugging in my laptop with my TWO roommates until Wednesday.

-My roommates. I've lived with the same guy since my senior year of high school. He's an awesome dude, and my best friend. Well, this year, his little sister is starting college. She is a smoking hot blonde 18 year old princess that has had everything handed to her all her life. Immediately she tells me I can no longer smoke in the house (a good thing), that she's getting a cat (I already have two, and her brother is allergic and takes months to adapt to a new pet in the house), that we need new furniture (which consists of an ugly ass flowered chair and checkered couch), and that's just within the first two weeks. And ironically enough, while making these demands, she's yet to spend a single night here!

  • That I basically work for a company that I realized today is very WCW-like in the way it works, at least in this region. Right down to the "glory days" being a few years in the past and the future seeming completely dim.

    - People are taking days off with little to no warning. Like for example I found out about a month ago in a casual conversation outside of work with a fellow employee that our supervisor was planning on taking a vacation this month. That was both the first and last I ever heard about it, so while I remembered it was rumored to be coming up, it never came up again so that seemed like that was it. Well...I have papers that are very important (as in required for me to get paid) that I had to turn in to him today - only he's on vacation now and never once said a word to give me a heads up.

    - Almost every day is a work day where I often have absolutely no idea what I'm supposed to be doing because the people that are supposed to at least give us some idea of what is going on for the day never got around to telling us. All of the time I hear complaints from stores because I didn't do something I was apparently supposed to do despite absolutely nobody telling me that I was supposed to do it, or even giving me a clue.

On a similar note, it was only a few months ago that a mandatory company-wide meeting was set for one afternoon on one of my days off (I still had to go, though). Despite these things being told days ahead of time, my superior decided not to inform me or the other guy (me and another guy work in this town kind of disconnected from the HQ because it's too far away for daily two-way commutes). Well, at least he didn't inform HIM for the first time about the mandatory meeting until about 1:30pm - when the meeting was starting at 3pm and the drive to even get to the place was roughly an hour in the best conditions. I capitalized "him" because he never told me, expecting that the other guy would just naturally tell me.

    - The level of incompetence and cowardice when it comes to putting your foot down is at sickening levels all throughout the power structure. Despite completely inept employees and constant complaints from outside and within, the bosses that have the power to do something about it all never do a thing. They'll "have a talk" with the person, which basically means they're acknowledging the situation but nothing else every happens. No punishments. Nothing.

    - With superiors and equals alike, you can be sure that whatever complaints about other people they're making to you, they're doing the same with others about you. Everybody has a knife that they're just dying to put in your back immediately when they get the chance to.

It's gotten to the point where I'm pulling back and trying to work with as little contact with everyone else that I possibly can make it by with because all of this politicking and sheer idiocy is making the job a lot harder than it needs to be. I feel paranoid now because I always have to expect someone else doing something to cut me off at the knees so they can get half a step ahead.

I am not exaggerating at all when I say I don't trust a single person who works for the same company. It's every man for himself.

Is it too late to pop a rating with a jump over to PepsiCo?

  • While I am friend with the Pepsi guy and they have been looking for someone, that's not an option for me due to some trouble I got into during the summer of 2009. Trouble that all could have been avoided, mind you, if my boss' boss would have done his damn job.

Otherwise I would probably be working for the blue team as I type. Instead, I'm debating some other options - including the options I discussed with you in private quite some time ago, if you remember.

I am heavily debating whether I should abandon my life in this town and simply start over elsewhere. My life is a dead end here, at least financially, but probably in all other respects too.

-Never having enough money! There are things that I desperately want/need that I cannot realistically afford until probably February. It's disheartening.

I am in the same boat. I paid most all of my bills for the month, then I look and realize that I have to save extra money because next month I have to go to the doctor and buy my truck tags in addition to my regular bills. Then, it will soon be time to start thinking about Christmas shopping. Seriously, look at the calendar. I won't have money to spend on myself until I get my income tax refund.

What about all the extra money you're making from making people "happy"?

It isn't enough. I'm behind on everything, and college and rent = expensive. Bills are getting paid at the last minute, and there's nothing extra for saving or setting up my new house.
